How To Style A Kimono

The kimono is back in your wardrobe this season, bringing a touch of oriental flavor to your everyday! I can only say good things about kimonos: comfortable and stylish, I love the myriad of prints and the variety of flowy fabrics we can choose from; they are perfect for surviving the heat in style. Today I’m sharing a beautiful kimono by one of my favorite retailers plus 4 ways to style a kimono.

How To Style A Kimono

Kimonos originated in Japan, but are now popular all over the world and are a wonderful accessory that can add color, layers, warmth, and style to your outfit. I’ve always loved experimenting with kimonos to because they are incredibly versatile and can be dressed up for a sophisticated look, or worn with casual clothes to create a street style look.

Pair a kimono jacket with slim-fit jeans for a tailored look.

This combination is incredibly versatile, and can be worn to work, as evening wear, or casually. Choose a pair of skinny jeans or tailored jeans, and wear a loose-fitting kimono jacket over the top. To make the outfit look more formal, wear a kimono jacket that falls below your hips.

Wear your kimono over your swimsuit as a stylish beach accessory.

This is a perfect way to cover up on your way to the beach and is also a great way to protect your skin from the sun. Opt for a kimono robe that breathes easily such as cotton, linen, silk, and rayon which are great fabrics for hot days.

Wear your kimono over a pair of wide leg pants.

This is a great option if you feel like dressing up your look for an incredibly chic, high fashion look.

Wear your kimono over a fitted or straight dress.

This helps to create a contrast of volumes. If you are looking for a slimming effect, opt for a plain and skin-skimming dress underneath, and wear your kimono open. Throw on some grecian sandals, a cross body bag and you’re ready for that European vacay.
