My most asked reader questions are about Gucci Belts and specifically help with purchasing one. Today, I’ve put together my guide to buying a Gucci Belt with tips and suggestions sure to help you make a decision if you have one on your mind.
First things first, I am a firm believer that women should invest in quality outerwear, handbags and accessories (shoes and belts). These do not have to necessarily be designer, but in my opinion, there is no better way to elevate your look than with beautiful investment pieces. A Gucci Belt is one item that will stand the test of time and offer function in your wardrobe day in and day out, and easily take your look from casual to dressy. I do not regret for one second purchasing a Gucci belt.
Oh and I have something VERY EXCITING to share with all of you! I was recently interviewed for an article in the Wall Street Journal Style & Fashion section. The article is on ‘distressed fashion’ and you can read it here. Ladies, my year has been made!

My Guide To Buying A Gucci Belt
The Gucci belt comes with 5 holes and I recently ordered this handy tool to add my own. Gucci.com has a sizing guide that you can follow so it is pretty easy to determine your correct size. I wear a size 26 or 27 in jeans and I’m usually a 2/4 in most pants. The size guide below shows that I would be a size 80-85 in these belts. Because I want to wear my belts with mostly high rise jeans as well as skirts, my optimal Gucci belt size is an 80. I do own one Gucci belt in an 85 and it fits perfect when wearing mid rise jeans. If you aren’t sure how you will be wearing your belt, I would suggest going with the larger size and having extra holes added at a reputable cobbler (Deno’s in Dallas) to wear it smaller.
GUCCI BELT SIZE GUIDE:
Choosing The Right Width:
You have your choice between skinny widths and wide widths. This is all really based on preference but if you are buying your first Gucci belt, I highly suggest the wider width belt (1.5″). It looks better with denim due to the belt loops. The skinny width (.8″) is very chic but more dainty and might not be as functional in your wardrobe. I own 4 Gucci belts and they are all 1.5″.
Where to Purchase A Gucci Belt:
I only recommend ordering from either Gucci or an authorized retailer like Saks, Nordstrom and Net-A-Porter. Each of these stores usually always has a nice selection with additional options in style, size and color.
What Color To Buy:
If you are purchasing your first Gucci belt, I would recommend getting it in black. The gold GG buckle is my favorite but I also have this silver buckle one, which is a men’s belt but you would NEVER know it (I liked the hammered leather). With spring right around the color, I think the brown leather belt to wear with all your spring neutrals would be gorgeous and you can’t go wrong with the all-season mystic white or dusty rose belt. I am completely coveting the Dionysus Snake Buckle, but really just love them all!
My Gucci Belts are by far my very favorite accessories. I have gotten so much wear out of each one that the cost per wear becomes pennies on the dollar. If you are thinking about purchasing one, do it…you won’t regret it. Better yet, send this post to your hubby or significant other as a hint for a Valentine’s Day gift!
