White jeans are a great, go-to denim style for creating fashionable outfits year round. You can style white denim for date night, a chic office look, and casual weekend wear. However, white jeans are not foolproof and there are some major style rules that come into play that will help you look your very best when wearing these spring staples.
The Do’s & Don’ts To Wearing White Jeans
1.) Check The See Through Factor
White pants show every lump and bump, so make sure yours are thick enough to hide flaws. Choose a pair in a heavy denim content. This will also eliminate the problem of pant pocket linings showing through (huge pet peeve).
Also, be sure to check yourself in a full-length mirror before you go out to be sure you don’t have any panty lines. Bulging flesh under white pants makes you look heavy. Flesh tone underwear gives you the most invisible coverage. For eliminating panty lines, I recommend the Chantelle nude seamless panties (on sale 25% off).
2.) Choose Your Fit Wisely
Fit is key to looking fabulous in white. You should never wear your jeans too tight so I always suggest sizing up one size in white denim. Your jeans should be form fitting but not tight, otherwise you will show every single flaw instead of hiding them.
3.) Style Your White Jeans To Flatter Your Figure
Unless you are model-thin, pulling white jeans off without making your bottom half look bigger can feel like a challenge. There are a few style tips to create a slimming silhouette.
Dressing in white from head to toe is a great solution, as this monochromatic palette is surprisingly slimming and looks good on just about everyone.
If you are petite, I suggest wearing jeans that hit just above the ankle bone paired with a heel or wedge. This helps create the illusion of height.
If you carry your weight in your hips, opt for high rise denim to accentuate your waistline or maybe a pair of flares or boot cut jeans to help balance wider hips which are more forgiving on pear shaped figures than skinnier styles.
Give your body a chance to breathe in white jeans. If you have a tummy or wider hips, you can wear a tunic top that flows gently over your less-favorite areas, to smooth or camouflage them.
Always try different jean styles on and once you find a style that fits and flatters your body type, stick with that style and purchase it in multiple colors.
4.) Choose The Right Shoe
Wearing nude, metallic or white heels will make your legs appear longer. A pointy toe elongates more than a rounded toe. If you wear a dark or bright-colored shoe with white pants, you break that long, lean line, and you’ll look shorter and heavier. When in doubt, always go for a neutral shoe.
5.) Keep Your White Jeans Looking Fresh
Nothing will spoil your look in white jeans like a dingy or yellow cast. Keep your white denim looking fresh and crisp by washing them after every wear and, as needed, using an oxygen-based bleach (such as OxiClean or Clorox 2) to lift their whiteness.
Hanging white jeans to dry, instead of machine drying, can also help to prevent yellowing over time.
One of my favorite denim brands is AGOLDE! I especially love the Nico style and these white denim jeans. The 11″ rise is super flattering and the length hits just above the ankle bone. The denim is just gutsy enough and I really like the distressed hemline for an edgy vibe. For premium denim, you really cannot beat the $148 price point.
My mint top is girly and feminine and a must have at only $52. It comes in pink and white as well. I’ll be wearing this pretty blouse on so many occasions (hopefully soon)! The quality is great and the details are beautiful. Wearing a size Small.
I searched high and low for the perfect white sandal this season and finally splurged on these by Alexandre Birman. At only 2.25″ high, they are super comfortable plus I love the heel. These white sandals are similar and more budget friendly plus Schutz is owned by Alexandre Birman. I also adore these by Stuart Weitzman.
