As the temperatures are warming up and the sun is shining bright, there is an additional form of sun protection that comes in a more fashionable form. Once again, I’m partnering with Foxcroft to introduce their new UPF Collection of shirts. Let’s discuss how adding UPF into your wardrobe will help protect you from those harmful, damaging rays that feel so good on your skin.

WHAT IS UPF?

UPF stands for ultraviolet protection factor, and is used to rate fabric. It measures how much UV light the fabric blocks. It’s like SPF but in clothing form and it looks just like regular clothing but is made with specific fabrics and sewn in specific ways to help block harmful rays from tanning or burning the skin. UPF is very different from SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, in that a UPF rating is given to clothing and other fabrics that protect you from the sun while an SPF rating is given to lotions and cosmetics containing sunscreen.

It is vitally important to protect your skin from the sun at all times.  Did you know that more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.  I apply an SPF sunblock on my face every morning and always wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses when spending time in the sun.

FOXCROFT UPF COLLECTION:

Clothing contains UPF is obviously ideal when spending time outdoors swimming, golfing, playing tennis, etc. However, I had yet to find nice clothing options with UPF that I could wear as a busy mom/wife during the hot, sunny months until now.  The new Foxcroft UPF Collection offers adorable options with several key benefits:

  • Blocks 98% of UVA/UVB Rays
  • UPF 50+ (only 1/50th of the sun’s rays will reach the skin)
  • Wrinkle Free
  • Wicks Moisture to Keep You Cool
  • Machine Washable

I’m wearing the Reese Wrinkle-Free Seersucker Stripe Shirt.  I love the bright colors in pink, coral, white and turquoise.  This blouse is super cute styled with white jeans or denim shorts but could easily be worn open as a swim suit cover-up for a day at the pool.

You can see the entire Foxcroft UPF collection and the other gorgeous colors offered including a non-seersucker in Starfish (coral), Mojito (turquoise) and a multi-color plaid UPF shirt. The UPF collection retails for $89 and comes in missy, plus and petite sizing.

My favorite white jeans by Mother have been on repeat because the fit is amazing and they are a fun, flirty cut.  My Gucci slides were a splurge but boy are they comfy and how cute is the floral design.  These are the perfect running around sandal that I can wear with just about anything I throw on.  I’ll keep these in my closet for a long, long time!
